So at the end of August Cali, RD, my mum, my auntie and I went on holiday to Barbados. We flew with Virgin Atlantic and I’m not gonna lie the ride up was kinda bumpy, the bumpiest ride I’ve had to Barbados. Luckily both the kids were completely into all the movies showing on the plane so they were no trouble at all.
Now we didn’t have a transfer included in our holiday so we basically grabbed a cab outside the airport. Now as we had a lot of luggage we got a mini bus kinda cab and paid $47 (Barbados) for it, so don’t let them charge you more than $50.
We stayed at the all inclusive Turtle Beach Resort on the South Coast; it’s basically at the bottom end of St Lawrence Gap. It was such a beautiful hotel. Very family friendly and so much for kids to do there, it’s hard for them to get bored. The staff were lovely and friendly and always had time for you.
We had an Ocean front room on the 4th floor (We got upgraded woop woop!) and the room was HUGE! We had a good sized wardrobe, a dressing table, huge chest of drawers, massive TV (with like a billion cable channels on it), like a super King bed, a sofa bed and a single bed and there was still room to wonder about. We also had a drinks chiller and a good sized balcony with 2 sun loungers and a table and chairs there too.
There’s a small kids pool that the kids can have a paddle in as well as the normal sized pools. There is alsothe Flying Fish Kids club that’s open from 9am-9pm (with a break from 4.30-5.30) where they do all kinds of activities with the kids. There are lots of toys and books and games and the usual Xbox/Wii and in the evenings they tend to have a movie night where the kids can snuggle on the cushions and watch a DVD.
Just outside the Kids Club there’s a Foosball table, Pool and Table Tennis and also a little play park. Then if all else fails the beach is beautiful and my 2 enjoyed splashing about in the water. Also if you fancy having a night out the kids club can arrange a babysitter for you. I used a sitter one night and the lady was lovely.
There was a buffet breakfast with a wide variety of yummy foods to try it was mostly the recognisable stuff you would get at home with a few Bajan dishes thrown in which I thought was great.
There was a buffet lunch which once again was great as the kids decided to be extra fussy so I just let them pick what they fancied (which was normally burgers, but they would have a tiny bite of the actually burger and just eat the bread)
There was a few options for dinner, 1st there was the buffet dinner (which was where we usually ate) the food there was goooood, and sometimes they would have themed nights so you could try lots of different dishes. 2nd Option was A la carte, which we did once and chose off the menu. The lovely thing was they were happy for us the change bits of the meal and add other bits to it. 3rd Option was an Italian restaurant that you definitely had to make reservations for; unfortunately we didn’t get the chance to try that place.
In between meal times they also have a snack bar that serves Hot dogs and Pizza all day so if you’re feeling peckish you have somewhere to go.
Well there’s the bar(s) where they will serve you any kinda drink you fancy.
Gym, I went there once it literally has everything, if you’re a gym rat you will love it there.
Spa, I didn’t get the chance to use it but if you can why not pamper yourself while the kiddies are in kids club.
The beach, The sun loungers actually have like built in shade over them and there’s also a guy who will come and take your order and bring your drinks on the beach for you so you can just hang out, top up the tan, catch up on that book you have been meaning to read for the last year and basically just look fabulous on the beach.
Basically we had an amazing time, the hotel couldn’t have been any better, I would definitely recommend it you’re travelling with the munchkins. I’d love to go back there at some point; it’s now my new fav hotel!
